The 1/5Th Battalion (Prince Albert's) Somerset Light Infantry: Great War The History And Book Of Remembrance Of The 5Th Battalion (Prince Albert?S) Somerset Light Infantry by Capt H. Milsom and Maj E. Goodland | 13 Feb The outcome for The Light Infantry Brigade on 6 October was the reduction by one battalion.
This was achieved by the amalgamation of The Somerset Light Infantry (Prince Albert’s) and The Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry, to form The Somerset and Cornwall Light Infantry. Somerset Light Infantry during WW1 Since the balance of power in Europe had been maintained by a series of treaties.
In Wilhelm II was crowned ‘German Emperor and King of Prussia’ and moved from a policy of maintaining the status quo to a more aggressive position. A great book to read is the History of the 4th Bn. The Somerset Light Infantry, the book details the operations they were involved in across Europe.
If anyone has any old photos or info on the 4th Battalion Somerset Light Infantry during WW2 I would love to hear it.
